Dog Sled Assisted Crossings

A west-east dog sled assisted crossing of the Greenland icecap following the Kangerlussuaq to Isortoq 'standard' route (335 miles / 535km).
Journey time approximately 18-20 days.
The expedition will ski pulling light weight sledges whilst the dog teams pull all the equipment and food. A perfect opportunity to embark on such a fascinating journey but for those with more limited time availability and without the increased level of physical exertion. However, very good overall fitness is still required for long consistent ski days of 25km+.

We strongly suggest NOT embarking on any icecap crossing expedition in SUMMER conditions. Be warned !!!!It is very important that we begin to form the core group for this icecap crossing and have our final team in place as soon as possible. This is not the type of expedition that can receive late bookings! We have also organized other successful independent groups and icecap crossing expeditions that have forged new routes over sections of the icecap in east and northeast Greenland. In reality this equates to about 300 miles or 480km actual travelling from the start position at 'Dog Camp' on the western icecap. We will use nordic mountain touring skis (metal edged) with plastic nordic touring boots which have proved themselves to be excellent for these conditions. Because of the nature of this expedition it is very important that we have our group finalized as soon as possible. This allows us plenty of time to meet up to discuss equipment and other matters.If you would like to consider joining this expedition please contact Paul Walker immediately.
